Girls on the Run - Capital Region

Don't you feel empowered when you achieve a goal—in running or in life? That's the experience we offer our girls—the feeling of confidence that comes from accomplishment. Our curriculum-based program leads girls through a 10-week season of social, psychological and physical growth, all the while training to complete a 5K. We use running to inspire and motivate girls, encourage lifelong health and fitness, and build confidence through accomplishment. A recent independent study showed that the Girls on the Run is driving transformative change in the lives of young girls through teaching critical life skills to help them navigate their worlds and understand their limitless potential.

"This experience taught me that we should believe in ourselves in whatever we do. We all shine brightly, in a way that we may not know yet." — Ashley, participant

Patriot Hills of New York, Inc.

Patriot Hills of New York, a not-for-profit organization, was developed as a way to demonstrate our appreciation to the men and women who courageously fight for the freedoms we all share. Our organization is committed to developing a community-based resource and outreach center in New York, designated specifically for the needs of returning combat veterans and their families. Our primary objective is to provide direct and effective support to veterans and their families through medical, mental health and therapeutic healing referrals and services in a customized facility that enables them to re-connect, transition, and reintegrate back from military service. Our veterans and their families did their part—they gave of themselves for us. It's our turn to give back to them.

The Animal Support Project (TASP)

The Animal Support Project (TASP) is the Capital Region's only all-species, all-volunteer companion animal crisis intervention service. Since 2006, TASP has made it possible for thousands of animals to remain living with their loving families, even when crises threatened to send the animals to shelter or death. When a situation cannot be resolved through crisis intervention, we offer highly qualified and carefully screened foster care, rehabilitation and re-homing services. Supplying free or at-cost supplies, preventative care, training diagnostics, foster care, boarding, spay/neuter, trapping, legal aid, counseling and disaster response, our trained, dedicated volunteers provide unique and enduring solutions to the crises that challenge companion animals and their humans.
